Seasons of the Riviera: inspiration
The French and Italian Riviera for centuries has been an attractive destination, but it wasn’t until the 1920’s when Coco Chanel introduced the outrageous idea that the suntan was a sign of health and wealth that the “Riviera” became a “chic” place to visit. With its mild climate, Mediterranean vegetation and quaint cliffside villages, trendy resorts soon blossomed. San Remo, Bordighera and Portofino and their French counterparts Nice, St. Tropez and Cannes, not to leave out Monte Carlo became the "in" places to be. And with them followed the artists, creatives and intellectuals. “Season on the Riviera: inspiration” is the theme for Patrizia’s upcoming art exhibition opening on the 3rd of September in the Italian Riviera town of Bordighera. The month-long exhibition hosted by Hotel Villa Miki will cover the interpretation of the seasons on the Riviera along with creative inspiration found living and creating in this storied location sandwiched between sea and alps. A conference How the Riviera Inspires: factors that influence and continue to inspire, artists, creatives and intellectuals” is part of the scheduled events.

Contemporary Gem Among Ancient Treasures
Traipse the upper salons of MAR Ventimiglia on the Grand Corniche road, Italian Riviera and you will happen upon a contemporary rendition of Athena, goddess of war and wisdom.
Patrizia’s painting of the Hellenic deity is part of the permanent collection located at Museo Archeologico G. Rossi in the "Lapidario" or Engravings Salon. Standing near two meters tall in the clouds with spear at left, she is swathed in muted creams on vibrant Pompeii red. This section of the museum, on the top floor is devoted to area findings and priceless Roman artifacts.
Not to miss at the museum — Steve McCurry’s photographic exhibition “Cibo” or “Food,” through the 4th of September. Colorful images that stretch the globe both a celebration of food and a reveal of the struggle to fill bellies in much of our world. https://oltreilcibo.it/steve-mccurry-cibo/
